Morse Code or Text Messaging?
Morse Code or Text Messaging?
Moderator: Officers
That contest is lopsided. The morse code guys were prime candidates for doing morse code. The text messagers should have been some teenage drama queen or something. I know a few that can text probably near as fast as I can type. Plus, morse code isnt as user friendly, so I think text wins. That's where I'm votin.

Well, even in the event that you could input the message as quickly as you could spell it out in Morse code, the Morse code would probably still win because SMS does have laggy tranimssion time. In some places it's better than others, but a text message has to go to the nearest compatible cell phone tower, to your cell carrier, then out to the receiver's cell tower and finally to the receiver's phone. It can happen as quickly as 10 seconds, but I've seen it take as long as 3 hours, with all different carriers. Morse code is a direct transmission that is directly heard, no middle man. Morse code can be transmitted on almost any frequency, most commonly now on HAM, which can travel over a hundred miles. So SMS inherently has disadvantages over winning a race against Morse code.
