A final stun

When our members walk another path from the guild, this is a crossroads where those paths meet once more, at least for a time. This is a PUBLIC forum!

A final stun

Post by Bauldor1 » Mon Jun 21, 2004 10:27 am

Bauldor woke that morning in the Walkers guildhouse with a sad determination. Finally, he'd made his mind up. Pretty much everyone else in the large house was still asleep. A remnant of the celebration from the night before where the guild freed Lord Karana from the clutches of his misguided brother Agnarr.

Quietly, Bauldor began to pack his armor and belongings. Moving stealthlike, or at least as stealthlike as possible for a large human, he walked downstairs to the common area. Surveying the area, a fond smile came to his face. These were the people he fought beside, laughed with, cried with and shared his life with for what was the happiest time in his life. That was what had made this decision so difficult to reach. He'd slipped a note under Bonlainy's door explaining everything. If anyone would understand what he was doing, it would be a fellow Paladin. Another reason he was leaving quietly, was that if he left during the day when everyone was up and about, he wasn't sure if he had the will to actually go.

Walking through the common room, carefully stepping over prone bodies, Bauldor stopped at certain people and just looked at them. Carefully committing each to memory. As he arrived at the main door, he stopped once more, taking in the room and everyone inside. Finally with a final smile, he walked outside, closing the door behind him.

Bauldor walked into the stables to get his horse and heard a small, definite, gnomish voice behind him.

"Damnation, where are you off to so early" said Whizbang.

"I have some things to take care of Boss" said Bauldor, without turning.

"When you coming back?" asked the gnome.

At that question, Bauldor turned to face the gnome. Whizbang started to say something else, but saw the look in Bauldor's eyes.

"You're not, are you?" Whizbang asked.

With that, Bauldor smiled sadly and said, "No Whiz. I'm not."

Bauldor knelt down to look Whizbang in the eyes and said, "Boss, I'll never forget what you and the rest of Walkers has meant to me. It's just time for me to return home."

After saying that, Bauldor climbed into his saddle and rode out the stable door. Whizbang looked after him and shook his head sadly, but as he looked at the knight, fading in the distance, he was certain he heard one thing.

"Farewell, my friends"

Ok, first off, sorry to use the melodramtic story ;P But, I've never tried writing something like that before and I thought it was a nicer way of retiring than just saying it. I'm cancelling my accounts in the next couple days, so I'll probably pop on one final time to actually say goodbye. I'm not selling Bauldor or Brodagrohl, as if addiction is any indication, I may un-retire (twitches uncontrollably). I'd like to keep access to the boards if possible, just to keep reading about you all making the EP and PoTime. I may not be online when that happens, but believe, I'll be there cheering you on.

For those of you playing CoH, I'm on the Guardian server as Megawatt. So send a tell if you would like. For the rest of you, I look forward to fighting along side of you in WoW or EQ2.

Be safe and farewell.

You are a true paladin Baul, thanks for being a Walker. Wish you the best of luck and damn sure better hear from you in WoW or EQ2, and look for me in CoH as Osir'Seth or Duoclops, or my scary clown The Insane Posse (although I doubt I will play him much).

And that was a good story my friend, sad but good. See you around for sure, so this isn't good bye.

Peace out man, hope you get what you're looking for. Stop by and write anytime... and if the bug ever surfaces again, we'll leave the light on for you!
